Obituary of Edward George Sparrow
SPARROW: On August 3, 2013 Edward George Sparrow, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 81, after a three year battle with pancreatic cancer. Ed was born October 6, 1931 in the RM of Woodworth, Kenton, Manitoba, the fourth child of James and Johanna Sparrow. Ed's first passion in life was grain and cattle farming, and would have continued onto this day if he could have. His love of the prairies, countryside and animals kept him out on the farm right up until the end. Ed was a very competitive curler and in 1972 went to Scotland on a curling invitation, and won the Seniors Masters in 1993 & 1994. Ed also loved to golf and enjoyed socializing through dancing. Once he retired from farming, even though he stayed on the farm, he took up wood working and loved to make end tables etc. for people. But his real passion once he retired was his vegetable and flower gardens, particularly his roses. May they bloom for many more years. He enjoyed working for the RM of Elton Council for 16 years and our roads were always well cared for. Ed will be remembered for his sense of humour, laughter and love for his friends and family. Ed will be lovingly remembered by his family Ena Sparrow, Gwen Arnold, Bob (Barb, Derek, Samantha) Sparrow, Joanna (Stu, Jon, Sara) Laco, Sandra (Ken, Chad) Baker, Cathy (Tony, Madison) Power. He is survived by his sister Olive (Ken) Toovey, sister-in-law Leone Sparrow and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents his brother Russ, sisters Josephine and Betty and his twin sister who died at birth. A Service to Celebrate Ed's Life will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A private urn placement will be held at Humesville Cemetery on Sunday, August 11, 2013. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Ed to the Canadian Cancer Society. May there be peace in every step you take in the afterlife and know you will always be in our heart.
