One of our family has left us here at St. Joe's. I have known Pat for many years, worked along side her. Her compassion for her work, her kindness and humour always in the fore front, her radiant smile and contagious giggle always filled the air. Pat was very repectful to everyone she met, even when it would have been easier to not be. I never have heard a bad word about Pat, in fact, most people were in awe of her and envious of her love and zest of life. She was totally devoted to her family and cherrished each moment she had with them. She will be sorely missed, was such a brave lady and it was a great pleasure to have known her. I will miss her. Family, please be strong, as she would have wanted you to carry on, with all her memories and love that she had given to you, which was her greatest gift of all.

My heart is so sad to have lost a dear and wonderful friend. It has been my utmost privilege to call her friend. She truly was an angel on earth quietly touching every person she met with kindness, love and compassion. She loved her family beyond words but I don't have to tell you that, you already know and have felt that love. She gave unconditionally, loved unconditionally and lived life to the fullest. There is not one person who ever met Pat, didn't love her the minute they spoke to her. My heart goes to all the family and all her friends who loved her. Her obituary has been written beautiful and describes what a incredible person she was. She will be missed deeply. I give my deepest sympathy to you all.

To Pat's family: Though I've only known Pat for a short time, I felt like I had known her years. She was someone you took a shine to the moment you meet her. You could warm up to her and she allowed you to do so. In June Pat and a group of gals were at my house and we snapped a fabulous picture and this is how I remember her. When someone you love becomes a memory. The memory becomes a treasure. Sincerely...

Good bye my old friend Pat. Never once did I meet you in the halls that your smile and a short conversation didn't lift my heart for the remainder of the day. I'll never forget those times 30 years ago when I used to bring popcorn in to all the staff on the unit during your night shifts. You always teased me. Thank you for your beautiful heart, I'll remember you always. Judy

Dear Jeff and Family, We are thinking very much of you, of this struggle, and of what will in contrast, with the birth of your first child, be the happiest time in your life. Your mom has always been the kind we all would love to have (though perhaps we don't appreciate it when we are young) and I hope to have the kind of relationship with my kids that she managed with you as an adult. (Showing up at Call the Office for gigs is one such example!) ~Tammy, Peter, Jude and Ailsa

Mr Waye & family We just wanted to let you know how much we loved Pat. She was more than just a volunteer to us, she was a member of the team and a good friend. She always had a joke or smile that would make us laugh. She seemed to know best how to help us without being told what we needed - her own special ESP that came from years of helping others. She was so kind to our patients and showed great empathy and compassion. In all our minds she was our special angel and we believe that she is in heaven caring for us now. From the chemo nurses and clerical staff at LRCP

This note is for Pat's sister Marg. Marg, my brother told me today that my sister-in-law Marilyn Waters worked with Pat at St Joe's. I can remember Marilyn talking about Pat in connection with The Golden Girls. When your mother passed away recently I should have been in touch, so today I am sending you my sincere sympathy and prayers for strength at this very difficult time when you have lost another precious family member. When I read the other online condolences, I get an understanding of why she will be so sorely missed. Pat was an inspiration to so many. Your family circle has grown smaller. You will need to stand closer together now and support each other through the days ahead. Take care.

To Pat's Family, I was so lucky to have met and worked with Pat on the Post Partum unit. She truly had the biggest heart of gold and treated everyone she met like she was an angel walking amongst us. Pat lived life as if she drew from a thousand lives and their experiences; always kind, gentle, with a wicked sense of humour and a beautiful smile. I was lucky to get to scrapbook with her when she started to make her first scrapbook for Emma. She told wonderful stories about Emma and Cameron as she worked on their books. She loved her family with all her heart as she laughed and talked about all of you as she created those pages for her grandchildren. Pat was so excited to tell us about Jeff and Anne Marie expecting and your very first thought for a name! I would like to express my deepest condolences to Pat's family and friends. It is with profound sadness we say good bye to such an amazing person. Sincerely Cheryl Collings

Montreal's Ninja Tune Hockey Team posted a condolence
Over the last 6 years on Easter Weekend, a couple of dozen washed up and aging female and male hockey players from across the country, and playing out of Montreal, were exposed to the greatness that was Pat Waye. We were introduced to Pat and Bill through their son Jeff who had assembled our squad in Montreal, with the aim of playing at the Exclaim Cup, held annually in Toronto at Easter. Bill became a prominent member of our team each year alongside Jeff, while Pat, from the start, was our number one fan and booster. She was with us through the many lows (the dreadful first year) and the highest highs (the championship from three years ago). Armed with a perpetual smile, a gentle soul, and kind words of encouragement, she and Bill became fixtures for all of us every year. She lit up the stands and our hearts, and will sorely be missed.
