Obituary of Mary Louise Dickinson (nee Douglas)
Passed in London on Thursday, July 12th, 2012 in her 79th year. Beloved wife and very best friend of Alan Dickinson, for 59 wonderful years. Mary Lou is survived by son Douglas of Valrico, Florida, and daughter, Susan Hathaway (Brian) of Appin. A loving grandmother to Danielle, Julie (Ian) and Ben (Laura) and a special great-grandmother to Gryffin and Dylan. Predeceased by sister Diane Fillman. Mary Lou and Alan were high school sweethearts at Lawrence Park in Toronto and during her last year there, Mary Lou was chosen Miss Cheerleader for the city of Toronto. Mary Lou loved sports and was an avid curler, serving as president of the Ladies section of the London Curling Club in 1973-4. She also golfed, played tennis and bridge. Mary Lou enjoyed travelling, had a wonderful life and lived it to the fullest. Cremation has taken place and friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, July 18th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 19th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mary Lou may do so to the ALS Society of Ontario. The family would like to thank the many golfers, curlers, friends and neighbours who visited and sent cards to Mary Lou. Thanks also to the caring staff at Mount Hope Long Term Care Centre.
