Cheryl, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I first met Ian when I was temporarily assigned to Charterways for a 3-month contract in 1991. Of course, Ian was my boss and I ended up staying for years... He was always willing to listen and had an endless supply of patience. I won't forget him! My thoughts are with you and your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Cheryl, Adam, Jonathan and your families. I had the privilege of working for Ian early in my career. He set the standards very high for any managers that have followed and no one has surpassed his innate ability to manage, guide and inspire. I will always remember his love of the Oatmeal muffins from Nooner’s and the trips across the road to get them when they first came out of the ovens to be enjoyed while they were still hot.

Cheryl and family; Ian did indeed set the standards very high as a manager and I can certainly say that no one has come close yet. Ian brought you and the boys to work with him (not literally...) but anyone who worked with Ian heard the stories about you and Jonathan and Adam, he was so proud of his family. We all loved when you came to visit, of course the boys were very young and I'm sure don't remember all these strange people chatting with them. One of my favourite memories of Ian was at the building on Clarence and Queens, the accounts payable department was on the south end (and east side) of the floor, running in 2 rows of 3 people side by side. Ian was standing at the north end of the desks speaking with the team about something and so he was facing south. Colleen Morrison (now MacNeil) came walking behind up behind him (keep in mind she is probably only 5 feet tall) and she was imitating all of Ian's moves and moving her mouth like she was saying whatever he was saying. Althought the team did a great job of not laughing, Ian didn't miss a beat and told Colleen he could see her reflection in the windows that he was facing. Everyone had a good laugh, I'm not sure how long Colleen's face was red for...but it was one of those moments when you get to know your boss is human after all. Ian you will be missed dearly by many many people.

Ian was a good friend and a good boss and I will cherish all the good memories of him. He has contributed greatly in my success as an accountant. He will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him. It was truly a blessing for me that I could spend couple of hours with Ian and Cheryl on August 4. May all the wonderful memories of him strengthen you (Cheryl), Jonathan and Adam, during these difficult periods and in the future years. Love and hugs from Mary and me.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who knew and loved Ian. As my very first boss in my first full-time job (at Charterways) fresh out of college, Ian was tremendously patient, caring and nuturing. I'll never forget the Charterways family, especially Ian and the presence that he was. May his spirit live on in those who cared for him.
