When I see that picture of Bill (Mr. Porter to me) I smile, then feel tears coming! He was always fun, and gave me many reasons to smile as he made jokes - often at my Dad's expense (Ralph Yates) !My parents (Ralph and Betty) benefitted from a long lasting friendship with Anne and Bill, and I send sincere condolences to you Anne, and all the family at this sad time. You and Bill were a great team in my eyes! love, Linda and Roger Young

Sharon Cosman posted a condolence
I remember Bill with a sparkle in his eye, and oh yes that dry sense of humor! Anne, I will always cherish the times I sat with the two of you at Maggie's dance recitals and watched two proud grandparents smile as they watched their grand daughter dance! Sending my love and comforting thoughts to all of the Porter family, such a special man! Sharon Cosman

We will always remember the special times we spent up at the cottage with Bill and Anne and the countless amount of laughs we all shared together. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our dear friends Paul, Mary, and Maggie and to the rest of those who knew and loved Bill/Grandpa as much as they did.

I only met Mr. Porter a few times and found him to be a very warm person with a terrific sense of humour. My sister Mary, his daughter-in-law, loved the man and spoke so highly of him. As a very proud Canadian citizen, I thank you Sir for your courage and sacrifice for this country so many years ago. The Glorious Genration will vever be forgotten!

Paul Forman and Michael Kugan posted a condolence
We never met Mr. Porter but have had many opportunities over the years to work with his son Brad Porter. When you don’t have the opportunity to meet someone during their lifetime, you can often glean their merits, good deeds and behavior by observing their children. Characteristics such as honesty, tact, care and respect for others, love of life are usually passed down to children. We have witnessed these characteristics in Brad and believe that he must have inherited these positive attributes from his father. We understand that although Mr. Porter lived a full and wonderful life, he will nevertheless be missed dearly by everyone. Our sympathies and heartfelt wishes go to the entire Porter family.

Susan Dalgetty Ezra and Kathleen Clark (Dalgetty) posted a condolence
The "Dalgetty Girls" are so sorry to hear the news of Mr. Porter. Our family friendship has spanned more than 50 years, and we have many happy memories. We remember him as "The Calm One" among the neighbourhood Dads. His generosity was endless; his sense of humour always evident. Our parents, John and Maggi, cherished Anne and Bill's friendship. Our husbands and children join us in expressing our deepest sympathies to Mrs. Porter, Tom, David, Paul, Brad, Julie, and their families. With much love, Susan and Kathleen

My Mom & Dad ( Ralph & Betty Yates ) are long time friends of Bill & Anne Porter. A lot of friendships were started on West Mile Rd. I remember as a 7 or 8 year old playing golf with David & Paul. I forget which one was " mini-muscles " My sympathies and best wishes go to Anne and the family.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Porter's passing, but was thrilled to see that he had lived such a rich life. I enjoyed many happy moments at your home over the years, often laughing at the very dry humour of 'the head of the household'. I hope that Mrs. Porter will feel free to drop by my home in Wiarton for a visit sometime soon. It would be lovely to share a cup of tea and some memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. xo brenda
