Obituary of David Matthew Stewart
At home in London, surrounded by his family and friends on Wednesday, March 16th, 2011 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Nancy. Dearly loved father of Cory (Tammy) Stewart of Kitchener, Brian (Beccy) Adams, and Laurie (Randy) Bannerman, all of London. Proud Grandpa (Papa) of Macy, Molly, Matthew, Ryan, Meghan and Allison. Fondly remembered by his supportive family, friends and neighbours. Dear brother of Doreen (Don) Crawford of London, Jean (Harry) Theabeau of Waterloo, Helen (Jake) Goerzen, and Linda Tymec, all of Leamington. Will be missed by his in-laws, Ken and Dorothy Sowerby, Sue Volland, all of Goderich, Jan (Mike) Hlodan, and Paul (Judy) Sowerby, all of London. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Millie and siblings Joan and Tom. Dave enjoyed a 30 year career at London Life and had a positive impact on the lives of his many clients and co-workers. He was a strong supporter and on the board of Life Underwriters Association of Canada and currently Advocis. Dave was also a member of St. Anne’s Anglican Church, serving as a warden, sidesperson and helped with many fundraisers. He will always be remembered for his positive attitude and infectious smile, especially when seen driving his shiny black 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury. Special thanks to Dr. Jordan, L.R.C.P., C.C.A.C. and the V.O.N., especially Pauline. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be welcomed for visitation on Friday from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a service to celebrate Dave’s life will be conducted on Saturday, March 19th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Canon Janet Lynall officiating. Donations in Dave’s memory can be made to the London Regional Cancer Program or St. Anne’s Anglican Church Memorial Fund.
