Obituary of Charles Harwood Dalton
Peacefully at University Hospital on Saturday, January 12th, 2013, with family by his side, Charles “Chuck” Harwood Dalton, in his 86th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Marty for 59 years. Loving father of Karen Dalton (the late Steve Kelly, 2009), of London, and Scott (Miyuki) Dalton, of Calgary. “Papa Chuck” to grandson Eric, and sadly missed by Michael and Emily Kelly. Survived by siblings Larry (Kathy) Dalton and Carol (Larry) Allen. Dear uncle of Margot (Paul) Geroux, Susan (Jim) Taylor, Leigh Ann Allen and Darcy (Greg) Blackwell, and great-uncle of eight. As a gifted athlete in many sports and a sports enthusiast, he played for the Tillsonburg Livingstons Canadian Champion Basketball team and represented Canada in the 1952 Summer Olympics. He was inducted into the Western University’s Sports Hall of Fame, Western University’s Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Tillsonburg Athletic Hall of Fame. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Michael Sanatani at the London Regional Cancer Clinic, and to Special Oncology Nurse Nancy Gregg, as well as to all the nurses and staff on the 4th and 6th Floors at University Hospital for their compassionate care. A private family remembrance will be held now with a celebration of Chuck’s life conducted for friends and family at a later date.
