Obituary of William (Bill) Jamieson
Jamieson, Dr. William (Bill) - Born and raised in Cobourg, Ontario in 1931. Passed away December 17th 2012, at home in London, Ontario. Bill married high school sweetheart Marion and embarked on a successful minor league baseball career before earning a BSc at Eastern Michigan University. With family under way Bill completed medical school at UWO and went on to a successful 30 year career as a general and vascular surgeon at the South Street campus of Victoria Hospital. He was proud to have started the Vascular program at Vic and enjoyed helping young doctors develop their skills. Forever the sportsman, Bill enjoyed his time with golf buddies at the club, on the end of a fishing rod on Georgian Bay, or at the bridge table. Bill became a successful painter in retirement and continued to tend to his wonderful gardens. Bill was a devoted and loving husband to Marion for 63 years and was extremely proud of his large and loving family including daughters Lori Robson (Kerry), Mary Hancox (Dave) and Sue Forbes (Jim) and sons John, deceased 2011 (Carol), Bill (Tina) and Andrew (Diane). Bill dearly loved his many grandkids; Brad, Anne (Colin), Kristi, Brent, Sarah, Jack, Pete, Mike, Katherine (Tobin), Jamie, Trevor, Erin, Nicole, Mark, and great granddaughter Harper. Bill is fondly remembered by brother-in-law Douglas Kellough (Ruth) and by several nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be conducted at METROPOLITAN UNITED CHURCH, 468 Wellington Street, London, on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers are welcome to donate to the Research Chair in Vascular Surgery at Western University, care of Foundation Western, or to the charity of your choice.
