Margaret M. "Peggy" Feeney
On Saturday, May 1, 2011, Peggy Feeney of Baltimore, Maryland passed away
Peacefully In her sleep after fighting a long and courageous battle with
multiple medical challenges. Peggy grew up in Baltimore and spent the
majority of her professional life in the Washington-Metro area. Peggy
loved this area because of its diversity and she enjoyed meeting and making
friends with different people.
Peggy attended Notre Dame College and graduated with her Bachelor's
Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to get her Master's Degree
in Special Education. During the 1970's Peggy became a special education
resource teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools, where she worked
for thirty years. During that time Peggy worked endlessly to advocate for
the rights of her students and families.
Peggy will long be remembered for her innovative teaching techniques that allowed her to reach
students in a special way. As a result, her students were always successful
and able to reach their full potential. In addition to her teaching, Peggy
served as a Title I Specialist and worked closely with parents to help
them assist their children at home. She was also the Coordinator for the Century
21 Grant that provided after school opportunities for students.
Peggy had a remarkable sense of humor and she loved a good story. She
enjoyed talking about current trends in education and best practices. Peggy
loved cats and enjoyed the beach, especially St.Thomas in the Virgin
Islands. She will be deeply missed by her friends and colleagues and all
those whose lives she touched in a special and loving way.
Peggy is survived by her companion of many years Charlie White, her sister
Patricia Lee (husband Bob) of Towson, brother Tom of San Francisco and
Brother Bob (wife Karen) of Chicago.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, at 11AM at the Church
Of the Immaculate Conception at 200 Ware Avenue, Towson, MD – phone 410-427-4700.
