Obituary of Carolyn Stewart
Carolyn Louise Stewart Born February 28,1926 Died September 9,2019 She is survived by her son, David Stewart, and daughter, Karen Stewart, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Born to two Oregon pioneer families, Carolyn grew up on the family farm north of Eugene. Her childhood home did not have running water or electricity until much later into her life. She graduated from Eugene High School, there was only one then. She worked for Oregon Fruit Growers at the cannery as a young adult. She then married Don and started her family. As a parent, Carolyn was a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout Troop leader, Little League mom and 4-H mom. She also enjoyed arts & crafts, pottery, creating seasonal decorations and painting. She and Don were members of the Eugene Jaycees. Every summer they worked the Emerald Empire Roundup, cooking the buckaroo breakfast and doing many other jobs to help the event be a great success. Carolyn and Don were square dancers too. After the children were old enough to fend for themselves after school, Carolyn returned to work. She worked at Payless Drug Store in south Eugene as a hardware clerk. Carolyn gained a large following of men who would wait in line for her advice on their home projects. She had married a home builder and had finished many homes herself. She knew which tools to use and how to use them. There are too many things to say about her life to put here. Hopefully some of these things remind you of your experiences with Carolyn and make you smile. Carolyn was a good loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Greenhill Humane Society. A memorial service will be held September 20th at 1:00 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary. Please access the obituary and you are invited to sign the guestbook at musgroves.com.
