Obituary of Ivan Walters

Ivan Walters of Creswell, OR died on Feb 21, 2016. He was born Feb 27, 1927 in Battiest, Oklahoma to James & Roberta Walters. Ivan attended school in Battiest, OK. In 1947 Ivan moved to Springfield, OR, where he found employment building the Weyerhaeuser Timber Mill. He was trained as an iron worker and helped set all machinery. Once the mill was completed he began working as an overhead crane operator in the Shipping Department for 30 years, from 1948-1978, and only missed one day of work. Ivan's attitude and sense of humor endeared him to everyone. Ivan met Virginia Hadley while attending 7th and B Assembly of God Church, where they were married in 1948 after Virginia's High School graduation. They made their home in Springfield, OR. Ivan is survived by his wife Virginia of 67 years, daughter, Vickie (Roderick) Gabbert; sons, Carey (Donna) Walters and Curtis Walters. Three grandchildren Tara Gabbert Bonforte, Aaron Gabbert, and Caleb Gabbert. Three step-grandchildren Eli Nash, Amanda Viguera and Nathan Nash and fifteen great grand children. Ivan's wife and all his family were the great love of his life. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb 27th at 1:00, at West Lawn Funeral Home, 225 S. Danebo Ave, Eugene, OR. Lane Memorial in charge of arrangements.
