Obituary of Murray Montgomery

Murray M. Montgomery of Eugene died April 1 of age-related causes. He was 97. No service is planned. He was born August 13, 1918, in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, to Murray and Anne Deuberry Montgomery. He married Esther Blackburn on December 6, 1941, in Cattletsburg, Kentucky. They were married for 71 years before Esther passed away in December 2012. He was in the US Army, fought in WWII and retired after 24 years in the reserves as a Lt. Col. He held a degree in engineering from Ohio State University. He worked as a mechanical engineer for 44 years. A number of his designs are still in prominent use throughout the world. Survivors include a son, Thomas of Eugene; two daughters, Ellen Parker of North Logan, Utah, and Martha Montgomery of Eugene; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
