Sally Anne Paterson was born in North Bend, Oregon May 18, 1933 to Dr. Edwin and Sadie Johnsen. She attended school in North Bend and Oregon State College. Her mother, father, sister Phyllis, and husband Tom (married 62 years) passed before her. She is survived by sons Jay (Marsha) Paterson, Eric (Kim) Paterson, daughter Sara (Christopher) Casebeer and by grandchildren Tommy (Chelsea) Paterson, Joe (Carley) Paterson, Sam (Hilary) Paterson, Megan (Lucas) Welliver, Sally Casebeer, Chad Casebeer, Josh Paterson, Drew Paterson, Sadie Paterson and Gracie Paterson. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Sally grew up in North Bend, Oregon and married her high school sweetheart, Tom Paterson. Together they attended Oregon State College and built a wonderful life together filled with love and laughter. They had three children, a family that was loyal, loving and supportive of each other. Sally and Tom’s tremendous bond, and love of family and community, was passed on to their children and, by them, to their families.
After attending Oregon State College, Tom and Sally settled in Salem where Sally had a career in real estate at Ohmart & Calaba. Sally enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, gathering with friends and family. She volunteered at the Assistance League of Salem, and at St. Anne’s Guild supporting other Salem families. She was known for her graciousness, her beautiful smile, her quick wit, and her contagious laugh. Her vibrant personality filled every room with light and wrapped those around her in her warmth. She will be missed by countless friends, and especially, by her family.
A family service and a celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, she has requested a donation to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in her memory.
