Obituary of William George Frye

William “Bill” George Frye 82, of Salem, Oregon passed away on December 31st, 2019 in Salem. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, January 25 at Dallas Church. 405 S.E. Washington Street, Dallas Oregon. Potluck to follow service. Bill was born in Eagle, WI to Joseph and Erma on April 12th, 1937. At the age of 17 he joined the Army. He had his own painting business until he went to work at Oregon State Correctional Institution in 1980, retiring after 20 years in 2000. Bill loved fishing, hunting, NASCAR, but his great love was meeting and helping people; he never knew a stranger. Bill loved his family. He spent his retirement years enjoying his family and attending every type of play or sports that the grandkids were involved in unless there was a NASCAR race that day. Being an avid NASCAR fan, one of the highlights in his life was to attend the NASCAR race in Las Vegas, which he received as a Father’s Day gift. If on any given day you wanted to find Bill in the early morning you just needed to stop by Denny's. He started going to Denny's every day on his way to work and continued it in retirement. Bill was a member of the Willamette Eagles for 45 years. He served as President for two terms. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Erma Frye Detwiller, his brother Joseph Frye and sister Cathy Eash. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Joyce; brother James Frye; sons Tim Frye, Joseph Frye, Kevin Parnell and his wife Nora; daughters Kimberly Parnell, Vickie Tenney and her husband Roger; grandchildren Jeff and Justin Tenney, Zachariah, Jenessa, and Justin Parnell; great grandchildren Sophie, Sam and Alice Tenney; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
