Obituary of Celeste Weatherby

Celeste Weatherby passed away peacefully on April 27, 2016 at the age of 80. She was born on August 7, 1935 in Bakersfield, California and raised in Roseburg, Oregon. She married Glenn Weatherby on November 3, 1956, and they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. Their daughter Julie was born in 1957, followed by Kathy in 1959 and David in 1966. She was a dedicated and hard-working homemaker and also worked part time as a bookkeeper. Celeste played competitive Bridge for many years where she earned the rank of Master. She was an avid collector of antique furniture and linens, and together with her best friend Dorothy Cottrell, they bought and sold their linens at Piccadilly and antique fairs. Celeste loved animals, especially cats, and adopted many throughout her life. She and Glenn enjoyed Duck Football games and held season tickets for many years. In 1993 they built a cabin on 5 acres in Christmas Valley where they spent much of their retirement. Celeste is survived by her husband Glenn, daughters Julie (Mike) Reed and Kathy (Roger) King, son David (Kerri) Weatherby, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Eunice Sory. Celeste’s family wishes to thank the staff at Sherwood Pines Memory Care Center and Peace Health Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. Interment will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens in a private family service. Remembrances on her behalf may be made to Greenhill Humane Society.
