Obituary of Susan Sanders

Susan K. Sanders passed away Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at age 62 Sue, born in Eugene, Oregon to Donald Fawver and Helen Ziebert, was raised in Veneta by her beloved grandparents, Harold and Margaret Fawver. Growing up on the Fawver farm, she discovered her love of all animals. She graduated from Elmira High School in 1972.Sue married Don Sanders in August of 1979 and they had two children during 12 years of marriage. Sue loved sewing and crafting, making many costumes, clothes, and doll clothes for her kids, and painting ceramics for family members. She spent several years working at Fabricland and being a homemaker. In 1991, Sue earned her CNA license and was employed by a local retirement home as well as many private clients. She deeply enjoyed working with senior citizens and developed friendships with many of her clients. She also loved gardening, flowers, and had a reputation for having a “green thumb” and being able to make anything grow.Sue fought diabetes since childhood and multiple sclerosis since 1999. Neither disease prevented her from experiencing life. She attended her son's graduation from the University of Oregon and both of her children's weddings in the last few years. She treasured her family and took pride in their accomplishments. Most recently, she found joy in seeing her children, family, friends, and brand new grandson.Susan is survived by mother Helen Ziebert; children Christy Crow and Tim Sanders; grandchild Jaxson Crow; brother Mel Fawver; sister Letitia Marquez-Cruz; half-sisters Melody, Melanie, and Shawn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, and brother Thomas Fawver. In addition to her family, Sue had many friends and caregivers, including Duane Braatz.Funeral services will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens (5300 W. 11th, Eugene, Oregon 97402) on Friday, July 1st at 1 pm.Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the MS Society.
