Obituary of Kenneth Edgar Webb
Kenneth Edgar Webb
October 1, 1933 – March 20, 2009
Ken Webb was born on October 1, 1933, in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
He was the second child to Arthur and Margaret Webb and a younger brother to Gordon.
Before moving to Dawson Creek, the Webb family originally settled in Rolla, British Columbia after relocating to the Peace River Region from Ontario.
Ken lived in Dawson Creek for his entire life. After completing high school he worked as a truck driver for the Army and Trail Transport. He then joined his dad at Shop-Rite Ltd and Webb’s Men’s Wear before becoming the credit and office manager for McCoy Brothers. Ken’s last job prior to retirement was with BC Commercial transport where he worked at the scales in Pouce Coupe and Dawson Creek.
Ken had a great love for the outdoors. He was very involved in hunting and fishing and won many trophies as a marksman in his day. He also developed a love for aviation and owned a number of different airplanes either on his own or in a partnership. For many years Ken, Marie, Shawn and Crista enjoyed camping and vacationing in the BC Okanagan.
Ken was a volunteer member on the Dawson Creek Fire Department from 1956 to 1968. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #126 and the Mile Zero Shrine Club. He was the Shrine Children’s Hospital representative for many years.
Ken and Marie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July of 2007. In 2008 they traveled to Airdrie, Alberta to attend Tyler’s graduation and achievement awards then to Fairmont, BC to spend time with Gene, Crista, and his treasured grandsons Tyler and Braden.
Despite many health challenges throughout his life Ken had a great sense of humor and was known to be quite a prankster. In more recent times Ken enjoyed meeting with friends and acquaintances for coffee at Robin’s or a meal out at a local restaurant.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie, his son Shawn, his daughter Crista (Gene) Wiegand, his grandsons Tyler and Braden, his brother Gordon (Geri) Webb, sister in-law Shirley Tucker, brothers in-law John (Barb) Querin, Joe Querin and Harold Querin, along with many cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and a lifelong accumulation of friends.
Ken was predeceased by his father Arthur in 1996 and his mother Margaret in 1999.
Ken Webb passed away on March 20, 2009 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. He will be sadly missed but forever remembered, by all who knew him.
A Memorial service was held on March 27, 2009 at the Bergeron Funeral Chapel, officiated by Don Moore. Interment to follow at the Brookside Cemetery in Dawson Creek at a later date.
