Don Switzer, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 82 years of age. He was born in Ottawa to Franklin and Besse Switzer; the oldest of eight children. As a young man Don came to Dawson Creek in 1948. He played for 23 seasons with the South Peace Hockey League and was on the Old Timers Hockey Team for many years. He and Barbara enjoyed many happy hours at the Dawson Creek Rink and spending time together at their cabin in Moberly Lake. Don would often tell his family that he wanted to make sure to thank the many wonderful friends who had shared his life and so many good times with him and Barbara. No service was held by Don’s request. Don was cremated and he and Barbara’s cremated remains will be scattered in their favorite place at Moberly Lake.
Don leaves behind his children: Erle, Darre, and Ryan (Gail) Switzer; his 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his siblings: Morna, Audrey, Erle, Bruce, Wayne; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Jim, Stew, and his wife Barbara. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Don to
