Obituary of Shirley Richards

Shirley Marie Richards of Eugene, Oregon, died on September 27, 2016. . Shirley was an extraordinary wife, mother and friend. Daughter to Carl Albin Alm and Olga Marie Alm, Shirley grew up in Greeley, Colorado with her siblings, Dorothy and Ray. She earned a teaching degree in Nebraska and moved to Eugene, Oregon to pursue her career as a High School Teacher, where she met her husband Bob. Through her marriage, she gained two daughters, Jennifer and Meredith and adopted two children, Dan and Anna. Shirley will be remembered for her compassion, advise and friendship. She developed lasting relationships with coworkers at her places of employment, including Eugene High Schools, Selco Credit Union and Elections amongst others. She was a proud member of the Shirley Club, Swedish Club, Kiwanis, Our Saviors Lutheran Church and Emmaus Lutheran Church and was a strong supporter of the Eugene Mission. Throughout her life, whether living in Oregon or Colorado, she was an avid fan of the DUCKS. Survivors are, Brother Ray Alm, Daughter Jen Herschbein, Son-In-Law Ben Herschbein, Daughter Anna Houser, Son-In-Law Greg Houser, Daughter Meredith McDonnell and 8 Grandkids, 1 Niece, 2 Nephews and 7 Great Nieces and Nephews. A Visitation is on Monday, October 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 at West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home, 225 S. Danebo Ave, Eugene. A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, October 4th 2:00 PM at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1250 W 18th Ave., Eugene, OR. Arrangements Trusted to Lane Memorial Gardens Funeral Home
