Obituary of Ruth Walter Crook
Ruth Walter Crook, 93, who had a long
career as a Foreign Service Escort Officer
and with the Voice of America, died on
June 27 of a pulmonary embolism at Knollwood.
Ruth received her B.A. in Political
Science, Phi Beta Kappa, from Barnard College
in 1937 and her M.Ed from Columbia University.
During World War II she was the War Information
Officer for the South Pacific Theater. She moved
to Washington, DC in the 1950's to work for USIA.
Beloved wife of the late Gerard Beekman Crook,
Col., USA, ret., she is survived by one daughter,
Sally and Sally's husband, Spencer L. Jones of
Westwood, MA. Ruth
also leaves five grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
