I have known Ms. Melton since I was 17 years old. My life's travels took me away for lengths of time, but when back home, I couldn't wait to call her and get together for long chit-chats and catching up. We used to watch any and all of the Miss America pagents. Usually the guys went outside to work on the boat. Sweet sigh for sweet times.
She loved antiques and could turn what looked like an ugly piece of nothing into a magnificent piece of furniture. Carol had the sweetest, musical laugh; eyes blue with just a twinkle of mischieveousness. She cooked supper every night for her family, many where I sat at the table. Joe would always say "thank you for our supper". He was a grouchy ole King (I say that lovingly) and she his Queen....a mutual feeling.
There isn't enough room to tell all the love she gave, and love returned. I have loved you Carol and love you still. My belief is we shall meet again. i will listen for your laughter. Bless you now in your time of rest. Much Love, Lawasa
