It was with sadness that I learned of Jerry's death. I frequently reflect on growing up in City Point and the many friends from the close-knit neighborhood near the "park". Jerry is always a pleasant part of those memories. He was a strong guy who never used his physical strength to bully others. The hundreds of games of softball, football, basketball and tennis that took place only a stone's throw from Jerry's front porch remain in the minds of all of us who enjoyed those activities. Summer evenings often ended with Jerry and the rest of us sitting on the cool surface of the concrete tables in the park (in those pre-central air conditioning days) to talk about everything from the mundane events of City Point life, to sports, to the serious topics of the day. The untimely death of Jerry's father, Clyde, put adult responsibility on Jerry's shoulders during his teen years. He carried it well and never lost his gentle sense of humor during that difficult time. To Jerry's loved ones, be assured that you are in my prayers during this period of loss. May Jerry rest peacefully in the loving presence of God.

Jerry, his brothers and sister were always such fun to be around. I never saw any of them any other way. My brothers were better friends with them and saw them over to our house many times. They're are many fond memories of those times.
So sorry for the lost and remember that he is only sleeping,,,,from what Jesus said about Lazarus. Also, the apostle wrote ,,"There will be a resurrection of the "righteous and unrighteous",,,Acts 24: 15.

To Jerry's Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy in your time of loss. I grew up in City Point with Jerry. We had a lot of great times playing football, basketball, and baseball at "the Park" and just hanging out in the summer.

My heart is filled with sorrow. Jerry will forever be a happy memory in my life. Jerry, Billy & Dorothy have been like my family for 30 years. Though our paths have gone our own ways, we always seem to stay in touch. Jerry was always such a hoot and there's no doubt he enjoyed life, no matter how rough it got!! I know now he is finally at peace and there's a party in heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family, for he will forever be missed. Xoxox

My most sincerest and deepest condolences for the loss of Jerry. Although I haven't seen Jerry in over 30 yrs, as children in City Point we shared many exciting times at the park across the street from his house. Back then I was best friends with his sister Debbie and the entire family was always so kind to me. I was fortunate to have known the Matthews. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
