Obituary of Erma Lawrence

June 23, 1930 - December 26, 2019 Erma Jean “Jeannie” Mourton Lawrence, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Monroe on December 26, 2019 with family by her side. Jeannie was born in Mena, Arkansas to Phelon and Velma Gertrude (Reed) Mourton on June 23,1930. She married Willard Jackson Lawrence on February 18, 1946. The couple moved to California before finally settling in Oregon. They had four children; Jack Lawrence, Les Lawrence, Trudy Lawrence Unquera and Patty Lawrence McMenamin. On July 20, 1969 the family settled in Monroe where the couple lived until their deaths. They owned Lawrence Nursery and Jeannie worked in the nursery until she retired in 2018. She is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, two sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willard, three brothers; CB Mourton, Bob Mourton and Jim Mourton and a sister, Mary Mourton Calicott. Jeannie enjoyed visiting with customers at the family nursery and became close to many in the community. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds out her kitchen window. She loved her family and always seemed to have a baby in her arms. She was a loving, warm mother and grandmother who will be remembered for always welcoming anyone into her home. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 7, 2020 at Bellfountain Cemetery, Bellfountain Oregon.
