Obituary of Leslie Brockelbank

Leslie BrockelbankA memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at First Christian Church in Eugene for Leslie Brockelbank of Eugene, who died Aug. 31 of age-related causes at age 85. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, at her home.She was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to William and Mary Chambers Brockelbank. She married Charles Gray in 1946. They later divorced.She earned a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. She worked as an activist and in promoting local artist Maude Kerns.Survivors include a son, Howard Gray of New Zealand; a daughter, Mary Jane Griffiths of New Zealand; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene Remembrances to Women’s Action for New Directions, McKenzie River Gathering and the Maude Kerns Art Center.
