Frederick DawsonA memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Eugene for Frederick Sommerville “Fred” Dawson of Eugene, who died Nov. 22 of congestive heart failure. He was 84. Inurnment will be later at Roseburg National Cemetery.He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Bay City, Mich., to Frederick and Catherine Hogan Dawson. He married Anna Mae Wurm April 14, 1951, in Detroit, Mich. She died Oct. 23, 1999.He attended the University of Detroit and received a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Michigan State University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a safety inspector and mechanic for P51 Mustang engines in Texas, Florida and Alaska.He was a forester for Weyerhaeuser Co., Scott Paper and the federal Bureau of Land Management.Survivors include a son, Frederick E. Dawson of Eugene; and three grandchildren. An infant son, Anthony Dawson, died previously.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to St. Jude Catholic Church.
