Obituary of William Smith

William Smith, Jr.William D. “Bill” Smith, Jr., of Eugene died Dec. 10 of age-related causes. He was 91. No service is planned.He was born May 3, 1918, in Portland to William and Ruth Frankland Smith. He married Lenora Reeves June 5, 1943, and she died in 1992. He married Marjorie Stener Feb. 20, 1993.He graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland and from the University of Washington. He served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army during World War II.He worked with the Atomic Energy Commission at the Nevada Test Site.Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Washington and James of California; two sisters, Betty Souffay of Texas and Barbara Richardson of Washington; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
