Obituary of Willis Akerson

FRANKLIN — A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Garden Way Church in Eugene for Willis “Will” Lee Akerson of Franklin, who died Nov. 30 of age-related causes at age 73. Private family inurnment will be at Franklin Cemetery.He was born March 18, 1936, in Eugene to John and Lois Cheshire Akerson. He married Sara Jane King in December 1965 in Corvallis.He graduated from Junction City High School and served in the U.S. Army, discharged in 1958.. He was an engineer who worked on various dam and road construction projects for 50 years.Survivors include two sons, Roger of Springfield and Robert of Bend; a sister, Clair Moffet of Franklin; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Michelle Akerson, died in October 2007.Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City.
