Jerome DaytonA memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Central Lutheran Church in Eugene for Jerome H. Dayton of Eugene, who died Dec. 26 of Parkinson’s disease. He was 77. Inurnment will be at Central Lutheran Church.He was born May 13, 1932, in Rochester, Minn., to Howard and Bessie Wood Dayton. He married Arlene Catherine Holm July 23, 1955, in St. James, Minn.He graduated from Chatfield High School in Chatfield, Minn., St. Olaf College in Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Medical School, then served an internship at UCLA/Harbor General in Los Angeles and a residency at Children’s Hospital of East Bay in Oakland, Calif.He served two years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire.He was a pediatrician in Eugene from 1963 through 2007.Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gwen Dayton of Tigard and Jan Penrod of Seattle; a son, Paul Dayton of Seattle; and seven grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the Chi Rho Lecture series at Central Lutheran Church or the Oregon Bach Festival.
