Selma VangsnesA memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Eugene for Selma Vangsnes of Eugene, who died Jan. 3 of age-related causes. She was 99. Private inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park.She was born March 11, 1910, in Kenmare, N.D., to John and Amalia Hendrickson Peterson. She married Martin O. Vangsnes Dec. 16, 1935, in San Pedro, Calif. He died July 15, 1999.She graduated from Junction City High School.She was a school cook in Springfield and Eugene schools from 1947 to 1970. She was part owner of restaurants in the Eugene Food Growers and in the downtown Eugene Sears store, and was camp cook for the Obsidian, Camp Lane, Lutherwood and YMCA camps.Survivors include two daughters, Ann Whipple of Eugene and Karla Scott of Springfield; a son, Gordon Vangsnes of Eugene; and nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
