Obituary of Garth Larkin

ALPINE — A luncheon gathering will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Faith Lutheran Church in Junction City for M. Garth Larkin of Alpine, who died Jan. 18 of age-related causes. He was 87.He was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Bellfountain to Avery and Mabel Hayes Larkin. He married Lois Moran on Dec. 10, 1946. She died in 1958. He married Helen Miller Hought on June 10, 1960, in Eureka, Calif. She died June 18, 2007.Larkin graduated from Monroe Union High School in 1940. He served as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. He worked as a logger and a cowboy.Survivors include four sons, Eric Hought of McKinleyville, Calif., Tom Larkin of Brownsville, Jim Larkin of Monroe and Joe Larkin of Junction City; a daughter, Sally Young of Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Silver of San Bruno, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Burial will be at Bellfountain Cemetery. Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City. Remembrances to the Monroe Museum or Monroe Fire Department.
