Obituary of Jack Moye
Dr. Jack Moye, of Junction City, died peacefully at home, January 29, 2010 attended by family members and under the helpful care of Scared Heart Hospice. He was 86. Suffering from myelodysplasia, when he learned earlier in the month that he had only a few weeks to live, his goal was to make it to his 61st wedding anniversary, which he did.Dr Moye, was born in Manson, Iowa, July 12, 1923, son of Ralph and Constance (Beardshear) Moye. He was an Army veteran of WWII, stationed in Italy from 194401946, and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1947 at Iowa Sate University. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Miller from Woodburn, Oregon on January 29, 1949.As a practicing veterinarian for 52 years, Dr. Moye began his career in Missouri, and they moved to Oregon to work as a deputy state veterinarian. He later opened his own practice in Junction City where he resided for 58 years, and participated in the Elks, Lions, and Moose clubs. He was proud to have served eight years in the Veterinary Medical Examining Board, and as a lifetime member of OVMA and AVMA.Dr. Moye is survived by his wife Betty, daughters, Beverly (Craig) Ruecker of Tigard, OR, Deborah (Eric) Hays of Missoula, MT, and Janet Moye of Junction City, OR, and grandchildren Kelly (Mike) Petrino, Kristy (Joe) Petrino, Connie (Marc) Jolley, Trisha (Matt) Bell, Jeff Hays, Gretchen (Jeremy) Hoog, Molly Hays, Many Hays, eight great-grandchildren, and a sister Janet Blakemore of Denver, CO.Murphy –Musgrove Funeral Home will handle arrangements.
