Obituary of Alfred Fitzgerald

Alfred FitzgeraldSPRINGFIELD — Services have been held for Alfred M. Fitzgerald of Springfield, who died Feb. 4 of age-related causes. He was 78. A celebration of life is planned for March.He was born March 19, 1931, in Ness City, Kan., to Edmund and Ollie Cook Fitzgerald. He married Harriet Mae Anderson on Nov. 14, 1953, in Emporia, Kan.He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College with a bachelor’s degree, and earned a master’s degree in science in Klamath Falls. He served in the Army until 1962. He was a teacher and coach at Thurston Middle School.Survivors include two daughters, Debra Nelson of Snohomish, Wash., and Karla Rickman of Scottsdale, Ariz; a son, Craig of Creswell; a sister, Veanna Martin of Manhattan, Kan.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
