Obituary of John Lloyd

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 8 at the Junction City United Methodist Church for John Donald Lloyd of Junction City, who died January 30th of causes related to age. He was 89. Visitation at the Murphy-Musgrove Funeral home will be on Sunday, February 7th from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. Private burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.John was born on June 10, 1920 in London, Ontario, Canada, the son of John and Violet Bentley Lloyd.He graduated from Calumet High School in Chicago in 1938, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945, and served in occupied Japan until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He became a naturalized American citizen in 1945. He married Marjorie Rasmussen May 10, 1947 in Chicago.John was an entrepreneur and business man in Junction City for almost 60 years, co-owned Lloyd Built Construction, and constructed or remodeled many of structures in the Junction City area, including the Lee House Museum. He was the President of the Junction City Historical Society for seven years.John was an avid and passionate collector of sad irons. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his fondness for chocolate, and most of all, for his love of his family.Survivors include his wife; a son, John Lloyd and his wife, Monique of Halsey and a daughter, Nancy Shaidell and her husband, David of Cheshire. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Sherry and Jeff Beck; Jack, Owen, Gavin, and Hugh Lloyd, and one great-grandchild, Logan Shaidell. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Harry Hensley.Remembrances can be made to the Oregon Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Junction City Fire Department.
