JUNCTION CITY — The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Faith Lutheran Church in Junction City for Walter M. “Walt” Petersen of Junction City, who died Feb. 6 of age-related causes. He was 94. Burial will be on Monday at the Danish Cemetery in Junction City.He was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Junction City, to Carl and Lena Jensen Petersen. He married Leah Lillian Puckett on Nov. 15, 1936, in Junction City, and she later died. He married Vernetta Morgan on Nov. 22, 1988, in Junction City, and she later died.He graduated from Junction City High School.He farmed in Junction City for more than 70 years, beginning as a dairy farmer and then specializing in row crops including beets and corn, along with peppermint.Survivors include a son, Leonard Lee Petersen of Junction City, and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Terrence James Petersen, a daughter, Gene Leanne Nicklen, and a granddaughter, Sherice, died previously.Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City. Remembrances to the Viking Sal Senior Center in Junction City.
