Obituary of Rachel Doreen McClennen

Early in the morning of December 6, 2016, at the age of 92, Rachel Doreen McClennen went to be with her Lord. She was deeply loved and cherished and will be forever missed.Born September 24, 1924 in Shelton, Washington, she was the oldest of five children born to Oliver & Esther Owens. The family later moved to Springfield, Oregon.She was married February 26, 1941 to James Herbert McClennen. They settled in the Veneta/Elmira area where they raised their family. He preceded her in death January 9, 1977.In 1979, she went to work for the Willamette National Forest as a mailroom clerk. After 16 years, she retired in 1995 and settled into a comfortable life next door to her daughter and son-in-law in Pleasant Hill, Oregon.She enjoyed trips to the coast, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, watching old westerns and Andy Griffith show reruns. But she mostly enjoyed the time spent with family. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary, and loved sending out valentines and Christmas cards.She is survived by daughter Janet McClennen & Tom, sons Dan McClennen & Esther, Tim McClennen & Lori, and Phillip McClennen. Daughter Margaret preceded her in death in 1954. Grandchildren Jeff, Lori, Jacob, Mitchell, Barak, Jerad, and Nicole. Great Grandchildren, Trevor, Danielle, Gavin, Avery, Jase, and Lennox. Brothers Archie Owens and Cecil Owens.The family would like to thank Cascade Hospice and especially the loving and caring angels from New Horizons In-Home Care. You are forever in our hearts.There will be a viewing Friday, December 16 from 3:00 to 6:00 at Lane Memorial Gardens 5300 W. 11th, Eugene, Or. Private burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens.Doreen was always a very cheerful loving person and strong in her Christian faith. She was a long-time member of the Veneta Alliance Church. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 at the Church, 25251 Hunter Road, Veneta, Oregon. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Veneta Alliance Church.
