Ronald SmalleyVENETA — Ronald R. Smalley of Veneta died March 9 of cancer. He was 76. A private family service will be later.He was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Wisconsin. He married Madeline “Tillie” Jones in 1957 in Wisconsin. She died Oct. 9, 1970.He attended Lane Community College and Southwestern Oregon Community College. He worked in sawmills, including Lane Plywood, Murphy Lumber and Rosboro.Survivors include two sons, Bud of Junction City and Thomas of Veneta; two brothers, Roger of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Earl of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; four sisters, Bernice, Helen and Veronica, all of Wisconsin, and Sherry of Montana; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Trudy Smalley, died in 1989.Inurnment will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society.
