Obituary of Caroline Vermaes

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Caroline Trees Vermaes of Eugene, who died March 5 after a stroke. She was 87.She was born July 21, 1922, in Pladjoe, Indonesia, to William and Marie Van Thiel Mossembekker.She was educated in Palembang, Indonesia, and received a certificate from Modevok School in Haarlem, The Netherlands.She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress.Survivors include two daughters, Judy Vermaes of Eugene and Maud Genthe of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sons, Robert Vermaes of Eugene and Gerry Lerachie of Bencula, Indonesia; three sisters, Amelia and Ruth, both of Pasadena, Calif., and Elisabeth of White Rock, B.C.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband, John Vermaes, died in 1992.Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene.Arrangements by West Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home
