Obituary of Helen Wobbe
The graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene for Helen Irene Backman Wobbe of Eugene, who died March 23 of cancer. She was 90.She was born May 1, 1919, in Wilton, N.D., to Edmund and Elsie Strand Broehl. She married Edwin Backman on June 28, 1939, in North Dakota. He died in October 1963. She married Charles Wobbe in 1970 in Eugene. He died in 1983.She graduated from Regan High School in North Dakota in 1938. She was a homemaker until moving to Eugene, where she worked in the kitchen at Willamette High School, as an instructor at Singer Sewing Machine Co. and as a letter sorter at the U.S. Postal Service.Survivors include three daughters, Ardys Pardovich of Elmira, Janice Schultz of Elkton and Patricia Davis of Pocatello, Idaho; two sisters, Lorrey Miller of North Bend and Leona Nelson of Portland; a brother, Virgil Broehl of Bismark, N.D.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son, Ellison Backman, died in 1942 and granddaughter, Lori Pardovich, died July 23, 1988.
