Obituary of Mary Hammer

A memorial Mass will be held at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene for Mary E. Hammer of Eugene, who died March 21 of age-related causes. She was 85. A reception will follow at 2 p.m. at the Oregon Electric Station in Eugene.She was born May 4, 1924, in Bellingham, Wash., to Lugena and Eilert Foss.She married Wyman Hammer on Jan. 24, 1942, in Eugene. He died April 2, 2001.She was a history major at the University of Oregon. She was a homemaker who volunteered at Sacred Heart Medical Center.Survivors include a daughter, Sara Hammer, of Eugene; two sons, John and Paul, both of Eugene; and two grandsons. One son, David Hammer, died previously.Burial will be Thursday at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Eugene. Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City. Remembrances to the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon.
