Obituary of Phillip Sappington

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 1, at Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Phil Sappington of Florence, formerly of Eugene, who died March 29 of age-related causes. He was 86.He was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Boise to Phillip and Christine Skow Sappington. He married Mettie Evans on Dec. 27, 1942, in Boise. She died Jan. 9, 1989.He served was a sergeant in the Marine Corps during World War II. He worked as a heavy-equipment mechanic in the timber industry until he retired at age 62.Survivors include a daughter, Susan Lloyd of Roseburg; a son, John of Bend; life partner Jeanette Larsen of Florence; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Burial will follow the service at Rest-Haven Memorial Park.
