Obituary of Ray Neely

Ray NeelyCOTTAGE GROVE — A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove for Ray Neely of Cottage Grove, who died April 1 of age-related causes. He was 81.He was born June 20, 1928, in Portland to Joseph and Alice Saunders Neely. He married Patricia Knowles on Feb. 14, 1953, in Albany.He attended Albany public schools, graduated from high school in 1946 and attended Oregon State for three years. He served in the U.S. Army following the war and was stationed in occupied Japan. He worked as a switchman for Southern Pacific Railroad in Albany and Eugene. He retired after 38 years of service in 1990.Survivors include his wife; a son, Dale of Beaverton; and two grandchildren.Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lane Memorial Blood bank.
