Obituary of George Bowden

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Green Waters Park in Oakridge for George Bowden of Westfir, who died April 6 of lung cancer. He was 81.He was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Alpha, Wash., to Joseph and Marie Brooks Bowden. He married Betty Powell on June 27, 1953, in Grays Harbor, Wash. She died May 20, 2004.He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic until his retirement.Survivors include a son, Larry “Butch” of Westfir; three daughters, Connie Janeisse and Nancy Hagen, both of Eugene, and Joanne Miller of Oakridge; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens in Springfield.
