Obituary of Freida Yvonne Grubbs

JUNCTION CITY — The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 19. at the Junction City Church of the Nazarene for Freida Yvonne Grubbs of Junction City, who died April 12 of congestive heart failure. She was 72. A reception will follow.She was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Lake Tallequah, Okla., to James and Lucinda Smith Moore. She married J.L. Johnson in 1953 in Carson City, Nev. They divorced in 1971. She married Robert Grubbs in September of 1978 in Junction City. He died in January 1995.A high school graduate, she worked in the produce farming industry, as a sales clerk for McKay’s Department Store and a grocery clerk.Survivors include a son, Don Johnson of Junction City; two daughters, Pamela Smisek of Coos Bay and Cheryl Handsaker of Toledo, Wash.; a stepson, Gary Grubbs of California; a stepdaughter, Pam Dickson of Santa Clara; two sisters, Ruth Barton and Mary Trummel, both of Oklahoma; two brothers, Jay Moore of California and Bill Moore of Oregon; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A son, Johnny Lee Johnson, died in 1963.Burial will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Junction City. Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City.
