Obituary of Donald Kelley
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 23, at McKenzie Bible Fellowship in Leaburg for Donald Wayne Kelley of Springfield, who died April 19 of age-related causes. He was 86.He was born April 6, 1924, in Fresno, Calif., to Horace and Hazel Spaulding Kelley. He married Alma Luebke on Sept. 6, 1945, in San Diego. She died Oct. 19, 2005.He graduated from high school in Richfield, Wash. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radioman on an aircraft carrier. He was a reservist for more than 20 years.Kelley earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Northwest Christian College in 1954. He served as an ordained minister at Norkenzie Christian Church until 1962. After obtaining his forestry technician certificate from Lane Community College in 1968, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service at McKenzie Bridge until his retirement.Survivors include two sons, Dean of Oahu, Hawaii, and David of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Deanne Langehennig of Springfield and Debbie Ihde of Colton; a sister, Doris Bottemiller of Vancouver, Wash.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.Entombment will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
