Obituary of Horst Seibert
Horst Seibert passed away May 6, 2010 of Leukemia and age related causes. He was born Aug. 31, 1927 in Berlin, Germany. In Berlin, he took his apprenticeship and worked as a fine mechanic. He had many hobbies, but the main one was music. He started a six-man Jazz band. His brother, Harry, was included. They played for many weddings and other functions. His mother was widowed with three children. Horst took over as father figure for his younger brother Harry and sister Inge. The family wanted to leave Germany. They had seen a postcard from Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Arriving in Vancouver by train, he met a German fellow who helped him get a job. The following day he started working. With hardly any English, but lots of experience with office machines, he was never out of work. In Sept. 1960, he married Irene Marko. They had no children, but had many nieces and nephews. Horst and Irene decided in 1963 to immigrate to Eugene, Oregon. In 1966, they started their own business, Modern Business Machines, with sales and service. They lived the "American Dream" with great success. Irene passed away in May 2007. They were married 47 years. They both enjoyed their new home and garden in Eugene, OR. Horst played his accordian on many occasions, and went on bus trips to Vegas, and Reno, and all the Eagles club members had good times together. Horst is survived by his brother, Harry and his wife Sieglinde; and 7 nieces and nephews in Berlin, Germany; his sister, Inge Raudzus and Jim Anderson of Houston, B.C. Canada; his niece Simone and her husband Lee Snyder, and their daughters, Chantel and Mikala of Terrace, B.C. Canada. He will be sadly missed by all.
