Sally LounsburyA memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 8 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church for Sally M. Lounsbury of Eugene, who died April 21 of age-related causes at age 88. A celebration will follow the service at Eugene Country Club. Private inurnment will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park.She was born May 23, 1921, in Harrisburg, Pa. She married Harvey E. Lounsbury Jr. on Jan. 23, 1943, in Harrisburg. He died Feb. 23, 1988.She attended William Penn High School and Penn Hall Academy. She worked as a receptionist at the state Capitol in Harrisburg.Survivors include two daughters, Jan Stuermer of Portland and Gail Hansen of Eugene, and three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to Assistance League of Eugene.Sally McCormick Lounsbury was born May 23rd in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and graduated from William Penn High School. She attended Penn Hall, and was a receptionist for the governor at the state capitol before marrying Harvey E. Lounsbury Jr., on January 23, 1943. Their first daughter, Jan, was born in Harrisburg when Harvey was flying the hump in China, 1944, for the U.S. Air Force. Following the war, they moved to Spokane, Washington where their daughter Gail was born. Harvey was manager of Lyon Van & Storage and became Vice President of the Northwest Companies, which prompted their transfer to Portland, Oregon, where they made life-long friends. Their next move was to Eugene, Oregon, where Harvey co-owned the family business, Eugene Moving and Storage. Together they were both active in their church, enjoyed entertaining friends, singing and dancing, traveling, golfing, playing tennis and cards, but mostly being with family. Harvey died suddenly while on vacation in Palm Desert, California, in 1988. Sally loved people and was extremely friendly to everyone. Cheery, warm hearted with an all inclusive generous spirit, she volunteered her time and talents. She was active in the Hospital Guild, in both Spokane and Portland, and President of the Guild at Sacred Heart in Eugene; on the Altar Guild, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church; a charter member of Assistance League of Eugene; and P.E.O, Chapter A.M., past President. Sally was an avid golfer and a member of the Spokane, Portland, and Eugene Country Club. She loved chocolate, playing bridge, the daily Jumble, white wine, parties, cooking, reading and bragging about her family. ?Thinking of my family and dear friends always brings joy to my life?. Sally is survived by her daughters, Jan and Gail, and their spouses Terry Stuermer and Jim Hansen; grandchildren, Jeff and Amanda Stuermer, Sara Stuermer and Jeff Hansen; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Will and Caroline Stuermer, and Meghan, Taylor, Colton, Graysen and Jorja Hansen. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on May 8th, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 166 East 13th Ave.; with a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m., at the Eugene Country Club, 255 Country Club Rd.
