Donald CarpenterCRESWELL — A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at Creswell Presbyterian Church for Donald R. Carpenter of Creswell, who died May 13 of age-related causes. He was 86.He was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Sabetha, Kan., to Raymond and Opal Coulter Carpenter. He married Betty Smith on Oct. 26, 1945, in Montesano, Wash. She died Sept. 26, 2008.He was a military police officer in the Army during World War II, and was a sawyer for Bald Knob Land and Timber for 45 years.Survivors include two daughters, Denise Bond of Springfield and Dawn Brown of Creswell; a son, Darryl of Creswell; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Douglas Carpenter, died in 1982 and a grandson, Michael Brown, died in 1999.A private inurnment will be at Creswell Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements by England’s Creswell Memorial Chapel.
