Obituary of Helen Rice

Helen RiceHelen E. Rice of Eugene died May 24 of age-related causes. She was 88.She was born Jan. 31, 1922, in Mansfield, Conn., to Elmer and Grace Popple Jacobs. She married Robert Rice on Oct. 27, 1945, in Tillamook. He died on Dec. 1, 2009.She graduated from Willamette State Teachers College with a bachelor’s degree in 1943. She worked as an elementary and junior high schoolteacher.Survivors include two sons, Robert of Milwaukie and Greg of Eugene; a brother, Elmer Jacobs of Tennessee; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to Disabled American Veterans.A private graveside service will be held later at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
