Obituary of Esther Sheffield
JUNCTION CITY — The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at the Church of God, Seventh Day in Harrisburg for Esther Dailey Sheffield of Junction City, who died May 20 of age-related causes. She was 101.Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City.Sheffield was born March 13, 1909, in Bern, Kan., to John and Minnie Ebeling Haffner.She married Roy Dailey in May, 1930, in Bern. He died April 17, 1949.She married Orville Sheffield in 1966 in Harrisburg. He died Feb. 7, 1999.She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. George McNeil in Junction City in the mid-1950s to mid-1960s. She worked as a cook for Junction City School District and for Al and Kay Stegner’s restaurant in the 1950s.Survivors include five sons, Bruce Dailey of Junction City, Jerry Sheffield, Lonnie Sheffield and Robert Sheffield, all of Jefferson, and Steven Sheffield of Sacramento; three daughters, Pearl Buchanan of Hemet, Calif., Donna Alvarez of Santa Monica, Calif., and Diane Paresa of Jefferson; 24 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Ilene Sherman, died July 30, 2007.Burial will be at Alford Cemetery in Harrisburg. Remembrances to PeaceHealth Hospice or the Junction City Fire Department.
