Martin RobertThe funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Carmel, Ind., for Martin J. “Marty” Robert of Eugene, who died June 17 of age-related causes. He was 86.He was born April 23, 1924, in Hammond, Ind., to Martin and Willamina Winter Robert. He married Helen Ernst on June 15, 1946, in Calumet, Ill. She died June 23, 2003.He graduated from Hammond High School and attended Oregon State University in Corvallis. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as an independent agent selling life insurance and pensions.Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Robert of Eugene, Jeannine Higashi of Anaheim, Calif., and Kathy Sprall of Memphis, Tenn.; seven sons, Michael of Eugene, Joe of Arly, Ala., Marty of Evanston, Ill., John of San Antonio, Jerry of Carmel, Tom of White Buffalo, Tenn., Tim of Bradenton, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Carmel.
